A comforting, wholesome twist on a seasonal classic — this Autumn Crumble is filled with soft spiced fruit and topped with a golden, seedy oat crumble for the perfect balance of sweetness and crunch.

Made with apples, pears, rhubarb, and berries, it’s a celebration of autumn’s best produce. The mix of oats, seeds, and a drizzle of maple syrup adds nourishing goodness to every spoonful. Delicious served warm with creamy yogurt, custard, or a swirl of nut butter — the ultimate cosy dessert (or even breakfast) for chilly days.

Ingredients

Fruit layer:

• 4–5 apples

• 3 pears

• A few sticks of rhubarb

• 2 tsp cinnamon (or to taste)

• A cup of water

• 1–2 cups frozen berries (added at the end)

Topping:

• 1 cup oats

• 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds

• 1 tbsp sesame seeds

• 1 tbsp hemp seeds

• 1 tbsp chia seeds

• 1 tbsp coconut oil or butter (melted)

• 1–2 tbsp maple syrup

Method

Peel and chop the apples, pears, and rhubarb. Add to a pan with a cup of water and cinnamon. Simmer until soft. Stir in the frozen berries and remove from heat.

In a bowl, combine oats, seeds, coconut oil, and maple syrup. Spoon the fruit mixture into a baking dish and scatter the topping over.

Bake: 180°C (fan) for 20–25 minutes, until golden and crisp.

Serve: Enjoy warm with yogurt, custard, or a drizzle of nut butter.
